The Lufthansa Group has partnered with Starlink to bring Starlink free in‑flight internet to its entire fleet of around 850 aircraft starting in the second half of 2026, with complete rollout by 2029. The satellite broadband service will offer high‑speed, low‑latency connectivity that passengers can use for streaming, work, and communication, free for status and Travel ID users across all cabin classes, marking a major advancement in global inflight internet.

Brightline has deployed Starlink onboard Wi-Fi across its fleet, significantly reducing onboard Wi-Fi issues by around 50 percent and delivering highly consistent internet speeds above 100 Mbps. This shift from traditional cellular networks to satellite broadband has reduced costs, improved guest satisfaction, and marked a major digital transformation in passenger rail connectivity.

Starlink free in-flight Wi-Fi is now available across about 120 Qatar Airways widebody aircraft, offering passengers ultra-high-speed internet access that often surpasses home broadband performance. The airline has become the first globally to equip Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners with Starlink and completed comprehensive rollouts on Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 fleets. Since October 2024, more than 11 million passengers have used the complimentary service, demonstrating Starlink’s growing impact on global in-flight connectivity.

Starlink is providing free broadband internet service in Venezuela through February 3, 2026, applying service credits to both active and inactive users to ensure continued connectivity amid infrastructure disruptions. The satellite-based service operates independently of ground networks, enabling resilient internet access in areas where traditional systems may be compromised. This temporary program highlights the role of satellite broadband as a connectivity lifeline during emergencies and political instability.

In 2026, Starlink orbital reconfiguration for space safety will gradually lower the altitude of approximately 4,400 satellites from around 550 km to 480 km to enhance collision avoidance and hasten natural deorbiting of failed units. This approach reduces ballistic decay times by over eighty percent and places satellites in a less congested orbital band, significantly improving overall space safety. The maneuver, coordinated with regulators and U.S. Space Command, reflects Starlink’s commitment to long-term space sustainability in a crowded low Earth orbit environment.
