Early on Thursday, September 18, 2025, SpaceX launched a batch of 28 V2 Mini Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida, under the mission name Starlink 10-61.
Falcon 9’s first stage booster, designated B1092, made its seventh flight. Roughly 8.5 minutes after liftoff, it returned and successfully landed on the drone ship Just Read the Instructions stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.
The mission expanded SpaceX’s growing Starlink network, which already includes nearly 8,400 active satellites. This launch was part of their ongoing efforts to provide high-speed internet service globally by increasing coverage and reducing latency.
Weather for the launch was mostly favorable—predawn skies, with a 65% chance of favorable conditions. Atmospheric conditions (like cumulus clouds) were being tracked carefully, but nothing seriously threatened the launch window.
This launch adds another piece to SpaceX’s ambitious pace: Starlink launches comprise a large portion of its flight manifest this year, and the company has now carried out over 100 Falcon 9 launches in 2025 alone.
